January will offer everyone something new this year, and I’m here to chime in with two big announcements.
First, there’s a new poetry journal in town. I am very pleased to announce that the digital quarterly journal Gyroscope Review will open its doors to submissions Monday, January 5. I am joining my wonderful colleagues Constance Brewer and Jeff Jeppesen at the editorial helm of this venture. We’re excited to be working together again (we got to know each other on the staff of the online poetry journal Every Day Poets) and we’re ready to read fine contemporary poetry from the many poets we know are out there. Here is a link to our guidelines.
Second, there’s a new flash fiction print journal in press as I type this. Due to be mailed out on January 15, the very first issue of Fine Linen: High Thread Count Fiction is ready to wow readers with its unique presentation of fine short fiction and visual design. Dave Morehouse, an editor and creative soul who never seems to sleep, hatched this extraordinary project last year and invited me to join him as a co-editor. It’s been a wild time starting this from scratch, but we’re really pleased with the result and grateful for the input of graphic designer Elizabeth Stark. She designed an elegant cover for the first issue that I’ll share here later in the month. And, while you’re waiting for that, feel free to check out our submission guidelines at this link. We are now reading for the spring issue.
Happy reading! Happy writing!
